"The finest of all editions of our greatest poet..."
Limited edition, one of only 1600 copies, of one of the most famous and desireable editions of Shakespeare's works. Very handsomely bound and elegantly printed.
The Nonesuch Shakespeare is "the chef d'oeuvre of the Nonesuch Press, and... a model of careful proof reading and imaginative setting. The best of ancient and modern conjectural emendations are unobtrusively set in the margin for the benefit of a glancing eye. This is the finest of all editions of our greatest poet" (Nonesuch Century, 58).
London and New York: The Nonesuch Press [for] Random House, Inc., 1929-33. Quarto, original publisher's full tan morocco gilt, uncut edges, top edges gilt. Seven volumes (complete). Handsome bookplate of E.G. Greville on front pastedown of each volume. Variations in leather color (as always) but much less than usual; volume I board a little faded. A beautiful copy - one of the nicest we've had of this set.
Price: $2,900 .
