“It is the greatest shot of adrenaline to be doing what you have wanted to do so badly. You almost feel like you could fly without the plane...” -Charles Lindbergh
ORIGINAL VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED BY CHARLES LINDBERGH.
The photograph, taken around 1930, shows a young Lindbergh (around 28 years old) only a few years after his historic solo nonstop flight from New York to Paris (20-21 May, 1927) and at the height of his fame.
Lindbergh was “the most acclaimed aviator in American history and contributed much to the development of commercial and military aviation. He was a man of character, courage, patriotism, self-discipline, and independence (some called it stubbornness), with an obsession for factual and technical accuracy and a high sense of integrity. In his diary he once wrote, ‘I prefer adventure to security, freedom to popularity, and conviction to influence’” (American National Biography).
Photograph of a young Lindbergh sitting at his desk. c1930. Signed: "C. A. Lindbergh". Size: 5 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches. A little wear at bottom right corner, otherwise fine.
